Sunshine Spotlight
Expand AllQ: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your family?
A: I’m a new mom, an actor (although currently taking a pause as we grow our family), and a lifestyle content creator based out of Millbrook, NY. My husband, Brad Livingstone Black, is an artist, so I’m also active in the sale of his paintings and sculptures. Brad is the best daddy to our son, Bowden, who recently turned one. He’s the light of my life and I can’t believe how fast time is flying! I love being a mom—it’s my favorite role ever, albeit very tiring!
Q: How do you create sunshine as a mom?
A: My main goal is to instill positivity and confidence in my son so he’s prepared to handle life’s challenges. I do this by encouraging him as much as possible in everything he does. I create sunshine by getting on his level and playing with him, always being silly, and indulging in lots of laughter and fun. I try to show up as my best self so that he feels seen, heard, and important. I love how he looks to me when he accomplishes something new, as if to say, “Look Mommy, I did it!” It melts my heart!
Q: What's your motherhood mantra?
A: I have a few…
Though I might feel like I can never get through my to-do list, I’m showing up for my son every day and that is most important.
I’m doing my best every day and that is simply enough.
Rest and self-care is important for mommy, too.

Q: How are you planning to celebrate Mother's Day this year?
A: We’re hosting some family members at our home for a nice brunch!
Last year, my husband made me an adorable poem and card “from Bowden,” who was only two months old at the time. I hope the two of them “collaborate” again and I can see a few chicken scratches of drawing from Bowden, who will then be 14 months. It’s crazy how much has changed in just one short year! Also, my mother-in-law very sweetly treated me to a spa day for the two of us, which was so special. Maybe we’ll do that again, too!
